My Beautiful BKLYN Hat...

I have been sent the cutest hat in all the land.

Like it?

Well lemme tell you more.

This hat was sent to me by a company called BKLYN. (I think it's pronounced Brooklyn, although I could be very very wrong)

BKLYN make beautiful, luxurious Fur Bobble Hats and accessories that are inspired by New York City chic and in particular the hip and happening part of NYC, Brooklyn.
All of their products are made using only the finest Italian merino wool and as a knitter myself,  I know how expensive merino wool can be and what amazing quality it is.

All their garments are made and hand finished in England. They put so much effort into making them the very best quality they can be, right down to the final stitch. Which in turn means these items are very exclusive and prestigious.

When BKLYN got in touch with me I had a little look at their website and thought 'Wow! This looks very posh!' Their website is as sleek as their products.
What made me excitable was the huge variety of colours they stock. Different coloured wools and different coloured pom poms.
All their hats have the signature pom pom on the top and when I read the descriptions of the hats I saw the word 'Fur'.

Now I'm not one for wearing real fur myself. However, I am not one for judging people who do. I wear leather shoes and accessories so who am I to say anything? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I contacted BKLYN straight away to enquire about the fur and ask them if it was real.

They explained to me that yes the fur is real. Raccoon fur and fox fur. I was about to explain to them that maybe this collaboration wasn't for me as I didn't want to upset any of my readers.
HOWEVER, BKLYN are the friggin best because they came straight back at me with 'We have a faux alternative made with feathers instead of fur'.

Well stick a fake feather in my hat and call me Yankee Doodle! This made me very happy as I really loved the hats and desperately wanted to work with the company. I think it's great that they have something for everyone, no matter what your beliefs. So of course we arranged to continue and here I am, wearing my beautiful merino wool hat, complete with delicate fluffy feathers.

When my package arrived I was pleasantly surprised by the very modern and monochrome packaging. I liked the shape and the design and it's nice that they send it packaged so that your items arrive in the very best condition.

The first thing I noticed was of course, the quality. It's a very thick hat but not heavy on your head so that it will be dragged down by the weight. It's definitely something I will live in this upcoming winter. It will keep you warm and toasty, that's for sure!

I also loved the colour. I had previously said the night before to Elliot 'I hope it's grey or white' and as you can see it's a lovely grey colour. I like grey as it goes with a lot of things. I also like the coloured stripes for a bit of pizzazz. I think it's very British but also American from it's roots. It's also kinda French haha!
Either way, it would be great for a city break anywhere really wouldn't it? :)

My first thoughts on the design were that it's quite tom-boyish? A bit sporty and I liked that as I don't have an insanely large amount of sporty or masculine products in my wardrobe and I always like when I see other people wearing those trends and would like to expand my own collection. I always think 'Can I do that??' and after trying it on I was rather happy with it as I think it looks quite nice!

I really love the added touch of the logo at the side too!

The fit of the hat is great. It sits nicely and comfortably around my little pea head and can be worn in various ways. It's stretchy too so will fit people with massive heads like my lovely handsome boyfriend. :P

The only thing I might be concerned about is the feathers. They look amazing and they are so so soft but I do think it would easily malt and after washing, will it stay like that?
Well I'm sure I'll be testing that soon and I'll let you all know. There is no tag included for washing instructions either so maybe I'll suggest to BKLYN to include a guide on washing your hat. I couldn't find any on their website either! I've had a quick google though that wasn't much effort and it says to hand wash feathers and leave naturally to dry which I guess is common sense. It also says to hand wash merino wool so there you have it. Hand wash only I'm guessing.

I was surprised when I felt the feathers too. Most poms poms are just the material bunched together but this is actually like a polystyrene ball wrapped in feathers. This isn't a bad thing. It sits nicer than other hats and it isn't heavy, I just wasn't expecting it.

Overall I am very happy with this hat, I like the way it looks and the way it feels which is what we all look for in a hat.

As I said before BKLYN have an insane variety of colours of their fur bobble hats. I really recommend having a look! They are so pretty and they have neutral colours, girly colours, bright colours, mens, kids and also a variety of scarves. There really is something for everyone.
So far there is not a section for the faux fur hats and nothing on the mens section but that is in progress and I'm sure if you specify that you would prefer feathers instead of fur than that could possibly be done?

The faux hats like mine are slightly cheaper at £49.
The real fur hats are slightly higher at £55.

Don't forget that the hat itself is made from the very finest merino wool which is such high quality so its a long lasting product that will see you through many years.

Thank you BKLYN for giving me the opportunity to work with you. I look forward to seeing what else you have in store for us all as I already love all your designs.

You can check out all their social media sites below

Thank you for reading, I hope to see you all rocking BKLYN hats this winter!

Much love,
