Dress Up, Dress Down With Motel Rocks...

I always end up having to say this lately but...long time, no speak!

I've been really excited about doing this blog post! I have collaborated with Motel Rocks to showcase their BEAUTIFUL Deluxe Gabby Sequin Dress.

I thought I would show you ladies how I would dress it up and also how I would dress it down for a more casual look.

But first. I have a great story about this particular green dress...

Many years ago I spotted a girl wearing the most beautiful dress I had ever seen. I desperately wanted it so I stalked her a little bit on Facebook and found out that it was from Motel Rocks.
When I looked it up I told myself I would buy it for New Years Eve.
I don't know what stopped me but I never ended up buying it. Maybe I didn't have the confidence to wear such a glitzy dress.
But again, the following year, I had the same dilemma. I love the dress but SOMETHING is holding me back. Do I really need it?

This dress was haunting me, I was seeing it everywhere! In Topshop, on social media, in all the magazines. It's Motel Rocks best selling dress!

It had been a long time since I had thought about the dress but recently I had an email off Motel Rocks asking if I would like to collaborate and it immediately popped into my head. Oh My God. The green dress. However, upon reading the email I saw I had to choose an outfit from a particular 'hotlist' and I thought it's only going to be the newest releases so it won't be on there.

Sure enough, I couldn't see it.

But wait, what was that? A second page?

And what was the last item? Only the green friggin dress!!

I obviously asked for it straight away and Dannie from Motel Rocks was so so lovely and agreed to send the green dress. I wanted to cry when I opened it this morning! So many years I had lusted over this dress and here it was in my arms. So so happy!

I know you might be thinking it's just a dress but I guess fashion is a way to say who you are without having to speak and therefore clothes mean a lot to me sometimes and this dress is my spirit animal.

I LOVE IT.

As you can see it is a fitted dress covered in green iridescent sequins. The dress is actually velvet but it's hard to see that through the sequins.
It is times like this I wish I could somehow upload a material to the internet which people could feel through their screens because it's so thick and so soft!

It fits like a glove. I decided to get an XS as I've lost some weight recently due to starting a new job. I'm not used to running around quite so much haha! But I struggled to get it on at first as it was a bit tight over my breasts but once I managed to cover them it fitted lovely.

I think it's very flattering and shows all the right curves. I LOVE that it is long sleeved. I love how thick it is because I think this is more of a winter dress. PERFECT for Christmas and New Years Eve parties. If you were going clubbing I do think it could get a bit too hot if you were sweating and maybe be a bit too much but I don't plan to wear it for that anyway.

I love the low back. It's high enough so that you can wear a normal bra with it but low enough to show some skin.

It's short but not too short. I think because it's long sleeved and high necked having your legs out is all good.

Cutting a long story short, I am head over heels in love with this dress.

It is available in black and also burgundy but I really felt the green would compliment my ginger hair and pale skin.

It retails at £48 which I think is a good price for such a beautiful special dress. I almost feel scared to touch it because it's so pretty and I don't want to damage it. I'll be keeping it in a safe part of my wardrobe, that's for sure.

To have a look at it and see some more details click here to view it on the Motel Rocks website.

So...how did I dress it up?

Personally I think that because it's such a glamorous dress it doesn't actually need a huge amount of dressing up. I think the sequins do that already. It's a very statement dress and it wouldn't matter if you had no accessories, you are sure to draw some attention in it regardless.
I didn't think there was any need for jewellery at all because it covers your neckline and wrists. I suppose some nice dangly earrings would look lovely actually!

I decided to add a matching clutch bag and high heels. I went for gold sequins for extra glam.

I think as long as you make an effort with your hair and make-up this can look like such a superstar red carpet dress. I can't wait for an exciting blogger event to come up so I can show it off!

If anybody has any other suggestions for dressing this up I would love to hear them!

But with a dress so sparkly and colourful, how can you dress it down?

I bet so many of you have 'going out dresses' in your wardrobe strictly for nights out which you would never think to wear as a casual item for a meal or shopping or a trip to the cinema.

This is how I decided to dress down the Gabby Dress.

I added a bowler hat, some chunky ankle boots, some thick black tights and a leather jacket.
All black stuff so that the green dress is a pop of colour and catches your eye straight away but kind of discreetly.

Then of course you can add a nice handbag of your choice, some sunnies and showcase your outfit out on the street!

I think this is also a winter look because I was very hot whilst taking these pictures!

I would love to see some of you guys dress down any glam dresses you have!

I cannot thank Motel Rocks enough for my beautiful dress. I shall try and wear it as much as I can!

Motel Rocks also do so many other beautiful outfits so be sure to browse their website to see more!

I really hope you all enjoyed this blog post and got some inspiration from it!

Much Love,
